The Tenement

The Tenement is an interdisciplinary work of visual theatre which draws upon many theatrical styles including mask performance, movement and dance, and puppetry. The scenic elements for the show are almost entirely projected onto a backdrop spanning the length of the stage. The story follows a rat who becomes human and tries to survive in mid-20th century New York City.

The original short version of The Tenement was presented at Cave Art Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn as part of the 2009 Ferment Series. It was later adapted into a full length production which ran at HERE Arts Center as part of the 2009 Autumn Artist Lodge.
